fnf online, sometimes known as FNF, is a donationware rhythm game. Cameron "Ninjamuffin99" Taylor, David "PhantomArcade" Brown, Isaac "kawaisprite" Garcia, and evilsk8r, a group of four Newgrounds users, created the game.

The player character, "Boyfriend," must defeat a succession of characters in singing and rapping competitions in order to go on a date with his girlfriend.

The opponent will sing a succession of notes during the FNF game. The player can then either follow the arrow keys or the W, A, S, and D keys to complete the task, or they can personalize it as they wish. Some songs have more complicated melodies, with the player's melody occasionally differing from that of the opponent.

Friday night funkin participants can choose from three difficulty levels each week: Easy, Normal, or Hard. The speed of the incoming arrows increases as the difficulty level grows, and the arrangement of the arrows becomes more convoluted. In the upper corner of the week selection screen, the player's high score for each week on each difficulty is tracked and shown.
